Our Goal and Mission

We hope to raise awareness for the disease of addiction and open up the topic for easier and more productive discussion.  We support individuals, families and the community with addiction recovery.  We are raising funds to aid in providing help for those individuals who are seeking treatment but are unable to financially do so.

Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. It is considered a brain disease because drugs change the brain; they change its structure and how it works.  The disease of addiction is progressive and always fatal if left untreated.

We are led by society to believe that people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction are bad people with no morals. We are not often taught that they are sick and need treatment to get better, just as anyone with any other disease.  Addiction alters the brain in a way that affects decision making skills and changes the way a person thinks.

We believe addiction is a family disease, in that it not only affects the individual with the disease, but also affects those closest to the person with the illness.  We understand the negative consequences this disease can have on individuals, their loved ones, and the community at large.  We also believe in the recovery process and the positive changes possible through recovery for the individual, loved ones and community.

It is our goal to help educate people about addiction and help change the way we handle addiction.  Because addiction often has such a bad stigma, often times people are afraid to reach out for fear of judgement or rejection.  When people are able to reach out for help, it is often very difficult to find it.  There is not enough societal effort being put into recovery treatments for addiction.  Our hope is to educate everyone in an effort to make treatment more readily available to those who need it, while at the same time, taking preventive steps for our younger generations.
